Works statement

The theme of my work is “The World In Between”.

When I was in elementary school, I remember a day when I was alone on a hillside in my hometown, and the breathtakingly beautiful sunset filled me with an inexplicable, immense anxiety, causing me to sob uncontrollably. Joy and sorrow, beauty and ugliness, fear and relief… these are emotions that cannot be expressed in societal terms, and it is precisely there that my “World In Between” exists.

At the heart of my creative activity is the materialisation of these inexpressible emotions and giving shapes and titles to them.

I feel that this act is a way of resolving the anxieties that arise in the chaotic, vague everyday life, and my only means of resistance against my unanswered suffering.

My works do not use fixed materials. I don't know until my emotion comes over to me. Words + extraordinary scenes within the everyday are constantly jumbled together in my mind, never taking shape. Rather, I explore materials that match my emotions and shape each piece individually. Fluffy huge egg sculpture, Brains dancing on the street, Unfortunately Sun setting down in the gallery… and my emotion impress watercolour paintings, interactive art pieces… I'm passionate with this process of finding new materials (new places for emotions) because I find the process is engaging in a dialogue with the audience and that will create the extraordinary, that is to say The World In Between between me and audience.

The Extraordinaries exist in places we usually pass by without a second thought, in things we usually don't pay attention to. My World In-Between exists at the intersection of these realms. This is the intersection of my life and art, and my works which are shaped in a “living evidence” of my emotions.
