Seiko Hayase (born 1987) is a visual artist based in Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, since 2018. Originally from Shiga Prefecture, Japan, she graduated from Nagoya University of Arts with a Bachelor's degree in Oil Painting in 2011 and a Master's degree from the same university in 2013. In 2011, she studied at the Dijon School of the Arts for six months. After graduation, she moved to Ireland via southern France.
Her artistic theme is “The World In-Between.”
The root of her emotions lies in dialogue with others, and in the uncontrollable emotions (her personal view of the tearing) that permeate the anguish and beauty of the heartbreaking everyday life she faces.
Her works do not use fixed materials, but rather explore materials that match her emotions and shape each piece individually. Watercolor painting, sculpture, street performance, installation, interactive art, workshops... she makes extraordinary objects cross the ordinary thereby engaging in new dialogue with the audience.
This process is the intersection of her life and art, and her works are a “living evidence” of her emotions.
